What is Anteater Family Weekend?

Anteater Family Weekend offers you and your family the opportunity to come back to campus and share the UCI experience with your Anteater! Together, you will be able to get a snapshot into the life of your student and see how the university continues to achieve excellence in teaching, research and public service.

Together, you will be able to take classes, meet with professors and deans, attend the first ever “Zotpalooza”, take a photo with Peter the Anteater and enjoy refreshments and grub at one of the many social events! Events begin Friday, March 2 at noon and conclude Saturday, March 3 after lunch. You are also encouraged to attend UCI Homecoming in Aldrich Park at 3 p.m.  

What does the schedule look like?

Anteater Family Weekend is a 1 1/2 day event (Friday, 12noon - 8pm; Saturday, All-Day) Please look at our Schedule located on the tab on the top left part of this page for more details.


When can I sign up?

Please click on Reservations to sign up.


When is early bird registration? When is regular registration?

Early bird registration costs are $65 per adult family member. Early bird registration will be available through Friday, February 9, 2018 (at 11:59pm). We encourage you to register early. After February 9th, costs will increase to $85 per person. Registration will close on Friday, February 23, 2018. 

The UCI student fee is $30 per current student throughout the registration period. You will be able to register your student when you make your online reservation


Why is there a price associated with this event?

UCI Parent Engagement under Student Life & Leadership and University Advancement are self-supporting. Like all other departments on the campus, we pay for staffing, meals, room rental, room set up, audiovisual equipment, tables, chairs, web development and maintenance, and all printed program materials.


What is included in the registration fee?

The parent registration fee includes: staffing, meals, parking for Friday and Saturday, room rental, room set up, audiovisual equipment, tables, chairs, web development and maintenance, and all printed program materials. The meals we provide are: dinner and drinks on day 1, continental breakfast and lunch on day 2. Please note that lunch on day 1 is not provided - but all of our dining facilities on campus will be open for you to purchase lunch on your own. 


Can I bring my UCI student?

Yes!  Please encourage your student to attend the event.  The registration cost for students is $30 and includes all meals and activities.    


Can I bring my children? Do they have to pay?

Yes, you can bring your children!  Children 12-years old and under are FREE.  However, 13-years old and over will be the $65 adult price. 


How do I sign up?

Please visit our reservations tab and fill out the form online.


Where will Anteater Family Weekend take place? How do we get there?

Anteater Family Weekend will take place on our UCI campus in various lecture halls (Day 1) and the UCI Student Center (dinner on Day 1 and most activities on Day 2). Homecoming festivities will take place in Aldrich Park. Please visit our Directions & Parking tab to find more information. 


Is parking free? Where do we park?

FREE on-campus parking is offered for Anteater Family Weekend attendees on both Friday and Saturday (a $20 value). Please park in the Student Center Parking Structure on the corner of West Peltason and Pereira Dr. Please visit our Directions & Parking for more information. 


Can I attend only one day?

Yes, you can attend only one day, but it will be the same registration fee per person. 


Where can I stay for the weekend if I am not local?

Please visit UCI's list of recommended Hotels


Can I make a reservation for Anteater Family Weekend if I just show up on the day of instead of pre-registering online?

Yes, you can, although we encourage you to sign up by visiting our reservations tab prior. If you are unable to register during the registration period, you must pay with a check (made out to UC Regents) or with cash and the prive will be $110 per person.
